Description

As a part of the Queensland Reds Professional Rugby Department and reporting to the Queensland Reds Academy Head Coach, the Queensland Reds Academy Pathways Coordinator will be responsible for leading and delivering on strategic initiatives to enhance Queensland’s player talent pool depth. The role will work closely with key stakeholders with an emphasis on communication, consultation and collaboration and plays a critical role in developing and retaining rugby talent in Queensland for the Queensland Reds and Rugby AU.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the Queensland Reds Academy Programs (U15-18)
    • Take responsibility for all logistical aspects of the Queensland Reds Academy Programs (teams include: Queensland Junior Gold Cup Teams, Queensland U16 Teams, Reds Academy Teams and Queensland URC U19’s teams
    • Assist with the process for appointing and coordinating all staff across the relevant programs
    • Order of apparel and equipment requirements for the relevant programs
    • Coordinate appropriate training and match venues for relevant games/tournaments
    • Ensure appropriate communication with all players, parents and staff relating to key components of the program
    • Work closely with the Queensland Reds Academy Head Coach to prepare an annual plan for all athletes within the program
    • Attend at all match, trainings and tournaments as outlined in the Reds Junior Academy and National program schedule
    • Maintain appropriate records via coordinated effective systems
  • Schools connection
    • Lead the process between the Queensland Reds Academy and key schools to ensure a coordinated approach to player development
    • Drive the player profiling process across School Programs
    • Provide schools with the key coaching elements to be implemented based on agreed principles
    • Work closely with the Queensland Reds Academy Athletic Performance Coach, to provide an effective LTPD program to schools
  • Talent Management
    • Work closely with Queensland Reds Head of Talent Management and national staff to support an effective talent identification, capture and retention system
    • When required, play an active role in Queensland Reds Academy talent identification, recruitment, de-listing and succession planning
    • Develop and maintain an effective development program for newly identified talent to provide the best opportunity to capture, onboard and retain those players
  • Maintain all reporting and deliverable in line with obligations within the National HP Agreement

Essential Requirements

  • Understanding of the components that contribute to a high performing Rugby Program
  • Knowledge of the Queensland and National Rugby Pathway
